Revised Code of Professional Conduct for The Guidance of Registered Pharmacists in Hong Kong

Please be informed that the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (‘the Board’) has revised section 2.5.1 of the “Code of Professional Conduct for the Guidance of Registered Pharmacists in Hong Kong” (2017 version) (“Code”) as follows :-

Original version:

“A registered pharmacist shall not disclose confidential information without patients’ consent, except where he/she is legally permitted to do so for the benefit and interest of patients.”

Revised version:

“A registered pharmacist shall not disclose confidential information without patients’ consent, except where he/she is required by law to do so, or is legally permitted to do so for the benefit and interest of patients.”

The above revision will take effect on 1 August 2025. The revised Code can be downloaded from the below hyperlink. It is also available for inspection at the Secretariat of the Board at 46/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong during normal office hours.
